Trainee Affairs Directorate

The Trainee Affairs Directorate ensures an effective trainee services delivery. It houses the Guidance and Counseling centre, admission and registration office, graduate recruitment centre, and the learning resource centre. It provides support to the training divisions and works collaboratively with the industry towards trainee apprenticeship and graduate employment.

ADMISSION AND REGISTRATION OFFICE

The office oversees the admission of trainees in various BTI programmes in accordance to the plans and strategies of BTI management.

The division also performs the following tasks:

• Administering admission process
• Keeping records and following the trainee from enrollment until graduation
• Distributing timetables of training and scheduling exams
• Issuing transcripts and certificates
• Accepting trainee excuses

The normal daily working hours are from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm except Fridays, Saturdays, and official holidays

VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING DIVISION

This division provides a wide variety of services to all trainees. It offers advice, guidance and counseling to overcome confidential problems and difficulties faced by trainees during their training period at BTI.

The division also performs the following tasks:

• Preparing trainees for training through induction
• Taking care of trainees who are suffering from poor learning
• Supervising and coordinating sessions of disciplinary committee
• Examining the cases of needy trainees who apply for fee exemption
• Finalizing the transportation procedures
• Receiving and following up trainee complaints
• Supervising and coordinating trainee entertainment, cultural, and sports activities
• Supervising and coordinating school visit programme from and to BTI

The guidance and counseling services provided to trainees include:

Individual Counseling

Individual guidance sessions are planned and agreed upon by the trainee and the counselor in private and confidential manner to discuss any concerns experienced by the trainee, whether social, family or training in order to find appropriate ways and means of addressing it.

Group Counseling

Sessions and meetings held with a group of trainees are scheduled at one time and one place to discuss certain issues in order to provide an opportunity for everyone to learn how to communicate, share information, exchange views, and build trust with others.

Classroom Visits

The purpose of the visit is to introduce the rules and regulations of BTI to trainees; to identify the difficulties they face in training in order to overcome any training related obstacles and to enhance positive behavior.

ON-JOB TRAINING CENTRE

The Graduates Recruitment Centre (GRC) provides the following services to trainees and graduates:

• Career guidance
• Job opportunities
• On-the-job training opportunities
• Graduate follow up
• Linkage to companies to obtain sponsorship for trainees

The normal working hours are daily from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, except Fridays, Saturdays, and official holidays


Trainees Activities Section


The Trainees Activities Section contributes to the development of the intellectual, emotional and physical skill of trainees, through its various programs and activities. It also contributes to the forming and refining of trainees’ personalities and, enhances their creativity and talents in scientific, cultural, sports, artistic and media fields, by preparing and organizing events and activities with an aim to developing trainees’ skills and knowledge throughout their training at BTI. An annual plan for the training events and activities is prepared to achieve these goals.

LEARNING RESOURCE CENTRE

Learning Resources Centre(LRC) contains more than 15,000 books in different technical and business fields, periodicals, specialized technical and business journals, audio-visual training tapes, and specialized scientific references.

All BTI trainees are entitled to make use of all the available materials at the Learning Resources Centre through a borrowing scheme.

The services provided by the LRC include:

• Internet access and electronic resources
• Samples of final exam questions for all the units of the different programmes
• Copy and printing services

The normal working hours are daily from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, except Fridays, Saturdays, and official holidays
